OAKLEY to do Balenciaga Sunglasses

The first ever Balenciaga sunglasses collection will be made by Oakley. Seems that sunglasses are the new accessory du jour, obviously our ever warming world and increased movement into urban centers with their glaring reflective glass towers of death, aka skyscrapers, has something to do with it. Perpetual summer is here.

Oakley's designs will be unveiled in October and are purported to have a futuristic, robotic but hand forged feeling to them, perhaps an allusion to infamous Balenciaga metal leggings from S/S 07 that have been in a million editorials.

Hirst does NY Fashion Week.

Damien Hirst is developing a collection with Levi's. The line will be called Warhol Factory X Levi's X Damien Hirst and will be shown first at Fashion Week in NYC in September.

Fashion & Art cross paths again.

What shall we expect? Pill covered skinny jeans would go over big. Easy access and instant popularity. got my vote!

I'll eat your liver and still look fabulous.

Jean Paul Gaultier's latest ads are very intriguing... His recent couture collection uses influences from colonial times, and these ads are utilizing Maori face tattoos. In the mid 1800s, the Maori people in what is now called New Zealand were colonized by the british. The British were fascinated by the cannibalistic rituals of the Maori warrior... and taking note of the popularity of the Hannibal Lecter films, the rest of the western world still is as well.

"We now live in a world where those we once called exotic live among us, defining their own identities, precluding our ability to define ourselves in opposition to "others" and to represent our own culture as universal." source

Lace it UP!

Lace up short boots are the new IT shoe. There are tons of choices for autumn from just about every single designer in varying degrees of flashiness. A solid but sleek, never chunky heels will give support and comfort, at least much more than the ice pick stillettos of yesteryear. Manolo is officially my enemy, after purchasing many pair of his shoes... I regret it. They hurt. These new styles are my saving grace for work and play. Why worry about snapping the heel or getting it stuck in a gutter? OVER THAT!

The Simpsons do Vogue

America's first family goes to Paris this month in Vogue Italia. Marge and co try on couture from this season's runway show!! And look damn chic while doing so... even with the curtain rods!

Marge let's her hair down a la Donatella and gets sexy in Versace.

Lisa looks modern and fabulous in Lanvin's reinvention of her trademark orange dress and pearls.

Marge saunters down the streets of Paris in Jean Paul Gaultier's fabulous red plaid coat and feathered cap.

The family checks out the stylings of designer Marc Jacobs front row at the Louis Vuitton show.

Patty and Selma, ever the attention desirous twins, bring their own lighting rigs with them wherever they go, apparently.

Christian Lacroix for La Redoute

yes. another collaboration of high & low... the ruby red ruffle coat is fabulous.

and this bag too...

"La Redoute, owned by retail and luxury giant PPR, which controls Gucci Group, has invited prominent guest designers since 1969, when Emmanuelle Kahn created 32 exclusive designs. Yves Saint Laurent, Jean Paul Gaultier, Karl Lagerfeld, Issey Miyake, Viktor & Rolf, Azzedine Alaïa and Sonia Rykiel are among those who have designed clothes for La Redoute, which dispatches some 30 million parcels every year to 22 countries.

Lacroix, who marks his 20th anniversary as a couturier this year, said he invested nine months in the project, tapping model Lily Cole for the catalogue shoot and for animated Web content devoted to his guest collection, a first for La Redoute. The site, at christianlacroixpourlaredoute.com, is e-commerce equipped and will feature new products, including crib figures and decor items, for holiday selling. Online sales leaped 23 percent last year at La Redoute."
